Introduction to Python and Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Economics and Management "Marco Fanno" is pleased to offer to its 2nd year Master's degree and Ph.D. students two new courses in Data Analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: 



Both courses are extra-curricular, do not provide credits, and will be held entirely online via Zoom. Eligible students can freely enroll via Moodle on the pages devoted to the two courses.

On Tuesdays from 3pm to 4.30pm and on Wednesdays from 5.15pm to 6.45pm
10 lectures of 2 hours each

Python is a high-level, general-purpose language which is commonly used for numerical calculus, data analysis, machine learning and simulations, but turns out to be extremely fit for purposes such as web scraping, automation, textual analysis and many other tasks. Python is often used to realize apps and games and allows your programs to access very easily to the internet. Its success is due to its relatively simple syntax and to huge and always expanding libraries of modules, procedures and functions which are realised by the community of users and made available to all.

Learning Python is a requirement to be proficient in data analysis, including machine learning and big data analytics, and it is a fundamental step to ride the wave of technological innovation.      
This course introduces the attendants to the basics of coding in Python and the use of the fundamental libraries for data analytics.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the personal and professional lives of people across the world. AI refers to the development of computer systems that can perform tasks usually requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, and even decision making.
More and more companies looking to improve their results and productivity are adopting these technologies. Therefore, to compete in this new technology-based economy, it is necessary to understand how economic actors can benefit from revolutionary technologies such as AI.
Thanks to the presentation of case studies and various interventions by external speakers, this course will also introduce you to the main applications of AI in Economics and Management.
