Salary and Workload: the annual gross starting salary - net of employer-paid social security contributions - is approx € 76.000 for a position of Full Professor and € 53.000 for a position of Associate Professor, depending on qualifications, subject to bi-annual increases conditional to approval. Net of taxes and social security contributions, starting monthly salary is approx. €3.500 and € 2600, respectively (13 monthly instalments). Depending on individual circumstances (e.g., being non-Italian resident for the past two years), the successful candidate may qualify for generous tax exemption. The position is full-time and entails a teaching load of 120 hours per year (not negotiable) primarily delivered within the School of Economics and Political Science across all campuses of the University.

The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua invites expressions of interest for senior positions at the level of Full and Associate Professor in Economics (with tenure), starting at the end of 2024 (beginning of 2025), for researchers with a track record of publications in top international scientific journals. Candidates of all nationalities are welcome to apply. English proficiency is required.

Profile
The ideal candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics or related disciplines, obtained at an Italian or foreign institution, and preferably relevant academic experience in previous positions that would allow them to apply for an ERC Consolidator or Advanced Grant (e.g. more than 6 years of experience). Applicants should demonstrate a continuous and recognized ability to publish in high quality scientific journals in the field of economics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the general field of economics. Teaching experience at recognized international institutions will be particularly valued. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work within national and international networks of scholars within their respective research clusters. The Department values the ability to secure research funding through competitive bids at the national or international level, as well as administrative experience.

Job Description and Positions
The advertised positions are at the Associate and Full Professor level in Economics. The positions are full-time, tenure-track, with a teaching load of 120 contact hours per academic year. The gross annual starting salary, excluding employer-paid social security contributions, is approximately €76,000 for a Full Professor position and €53,000 for an Associate Professor position. While this is non-negotiable, the faculty member will receive biennial increases upon achievement of national targets set by the Ministry. The salary is subject to social security contributions paid by the employee and Italian income tax. Depending on individual circumstances (e.g. non-residency in Italy for the last two years), the successful candidate may qualify for a generous tax exemption.

Qualifications and Requirements
According to Italian legislation, eligible candidates must already hold an equivalent academic position (Associate or Full Professor) at their current foreign or Italian university; alternatively, they must have already obtained the Italian habilitation as Associate or Full Professor in the relevant scientific fields. In addition, the Selection Committee will consider candidates who meet the following requirements:
a) Evidence of experience in conducting independent research and a track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international scientific journals;
b) Evidence of high quality teaching and student supervision;
c) ability to supervise doctoral students and support early-stage researchers
d) evidence of ability to secure research funding at departmental or university level
e) evidence of consolidated experience of working with international scholars and of being active in widely recognized scholarly societies
f) proficiency in written and spoken English.

About the Department
The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua was founded in 1989. It counts over 2000 students and more than 75 faculty members who conduct research in the field of economics and management.
In 2023 the dSEA obtained the EQUIS accreditation. Since 2012, the 'Grande Guida'university guide has ranked the Department among the top three institutions in Italy in terms of teaching quality in economics and statistics. The Department ranks fourth in terms of research quality and productivity. Out of 850 universities evaluated, our department is also at the top of the international U-Multirank ranking.
