Campaign "Autonomy is Freedom"

Autonomy is Freedom
Financial education and economic awareness

Through the campaign “Autonomy is Freedom”, the Third Mission Service of the Department of Economics and Management “Marco Fanno”, University of Padua, promotes financial awareness, with particular attention to women’s economic autonomy and the prevention of economic violence.
Economic autonomy is essential to make independent choices and shape one’s future with freedom and confidence. Understanding how to manage personal finances, learning the basics of financial decision-making, and developing economic awareness help strengthen independence and reduce situations of vulnerability.
Financial education is therefore a key civic competence. It goes beyond saving or investing: it involves the ability to make informed decisions throughout life—from managing income and expenses to planning for the future, and understanding concepts such as inflation, pensions, and financial risk.

The campaign encourages people to reflect on some key questions:

  • Are we truly aware of our financial resources?
  • Do we know how to read and understand our payslip and pension contributions?
  • Do we have the tools to plan our financial future?

To support the development of these basic skills, the Department provides a series of short educational videos on financial literacy, available on the Department’s YouTube channel.

These videos offer clear and accessible explanations of key personal finance concepts.
The goal is to promote greater autonomy, greater awareness, and greater freedom in economic decision-making.
