SEMINAR SERIES in “CURRENT TRENDS IN INTERNATIONAL TAX LAW”

Current trends in EU Customs Law

Customs revenues cover an important share of the EU budget and constitute the so-called traditional own resources. The protection of the financial interest of the EU is a key obligation of the Member States and of the EU.
The Regulation 952/2013 - Union Customs Code (UCC) has recently changed its legal architecture. For the first time, a clear statement is made that the customs are responsible for the supervision of the EU international trade. Pursuant to the new legislative framework, new uniform customs procedures are applicable in all 28 Member States.
Furthermore, recent modifications of the EU legal system enhanced the so-called Protection of the EU Financial Interest, hence the “PIF Directive” (2017/1371), and introduced the European Public Prosecutor - EPPO (Regulation 2017/1939).
How are these new tools going to protect the EU from frauds and from unfair and illegal trade? What are the latest developments in this field?
The intent of the Seminar is to provide a comprehensive analysis of these fascinating topics.
