Informational Flows for Climate Change
Scientific Responsible: EDOARDO GRILLO
Project objectives: Climate change is one of the most important challenges that our societies face. In this project, we will study the social and economic consequences that extreme weather events generate, as well as the awareness of citizens about these consequences. The way information concerning climate change circulates and the audiences that it reaches play a key role in determining the evolution of environmental social norms and the success of policies designed to fight climate change. In particular, we will develop two research lines. First, we will study how the public sector reacts to climate risk by adjusting its tendering behavior. Second, we will investigate how political polarization concerning climate change may lead to the emergence of extreme positions (e.g., the deniers of climate change).
