LEXECON
The Economic Teacher: A transnational and diachronic study of treatises and textbooks of economics (18th to 20th century). Intra- and interlingual corpus-driven and corpus-based analysis with a focus on lexicon and argumentation
Scientific Responsible: GIANFRANCO TUSSET
Project objectives: The Economic Teacher aims to compare the textbooks used to teach political economy in three countries - Britain, France and Italy - from 1900 to 1970. The aim is to highlight differences in approach, content and method. The tools used in the research include text mining, textual analysis, quantitative analysis, lexical analysis, computational linguistics. In the first phase of the research, the data set was prepared (electronic version of one hundred volumes for each of the countries considered); in the second phase, the corpora will be analyzed, which, given the multidisciplinary composition of the research group, are of a different disciplinary nature. At the same time, the first results of the work will be presented at international conferences.
