When Struggles Develop Strengths: Transforming Learning in Innovation. An Analysis of Individuals, Teams and Organizations.
Scientific Responsible: ALESSANDRA TOGNAZZO
Project objectives: This research investigates how organizations maintain innovative practices after experiencing a major systemic shock (e.g., pandemic). While past research suggests such shocks can trigger innovation, many organizations struggle to sustain these positive changes. This project aims to understand the factors influencing this phenomenon.
The researchers propose a multi-method and multi-level approach. They will combine qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys to explore how individual and team resilience, along with daily stressors, interact and affect learning capabilities. Additionally, they will examine how organizations structure their knowledge creation and use processes to support innovation.
By focusing on industries significantly impacted by the pandemic (e.g., healthcare), the research will compare individuals and teams facing different levels of daily hassles due to varied organizational responses to the shock. Multi-level longitudinal data will be used to analyze how interpretations and reactions to the shock evolve over time, informing individual and organizational resilience and learning.
This research seeks to improve understanding of how organizations can learn and maintain innovative practices after experiencing a systemic shock.
