Andrea Furlan is Associate Professor of Management at the University of Padova, Italy, Department of Economics and Management. He graduated in business economics at the University of Padova where he completed his Ph.D. in Economics and Management with a doctoral dissertation on supply chain management.

His research has appeared in several peer reviewed international journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management, Operations Management Research, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, International Journal of Innovation Management, Human Systems Management, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, and the IMP Journal.

He held visiting scholar positions at Krannert School of Management, Purdue University in 2012; M.I.T - Industrial Performance Center, Cambridge, MA (USA) in 2009 and Norwegian School of Management, Oslo (Norway) in 2007. He has been visiting student at School of Management of Boston University, Boston, MA (USA) in 2002.

He is member of the Academy of Management (AOM), Strategic Management Society (SMS), the European Association of Operations Management (EuROMA) and the Industrial and Marketing Purchasing (IMP) Group.

He has received several prestigious awards and international recognitions for his research activity:
1) July 2012. “The Jose A.D. Machuca P&OM World Conference Best Paper Award” for the paper “The green bullwhip effect: transferring environmental obligation along a supply chain” (with Lee, Klassen and Vinelli) presented at the Production &Operations Management World Conference, Amsterdam;
2)June, 2008, The Chris Voss Highly Commended Award, for the paper “Effects on Performance of Lean Bundles”, (with Dal Pont G., Vinelli A), presented to EurOMA 15th international conference, University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands;
3) June 2004: The Chris Voss Best Paper Award. Honorable mention, for the paper “Operations and supply chain management as change agents in a mature industry: lessons from the footwear sector”, (with Camuffo A., Romano P., Vinelli A) presented at the EurOMA 11th international conference, INSEAD, Fontainebleau.
