Economic geography and regional economics

This area investigates the economic role of space, specifically the drivers and the economic effects of the geographical concentration of firms and industries. The research activity involves different spatial levels (industrial districts, clusters, cities, regions and countries) and different approaches (like new economic geography, evolutionary economic geography and network analysis). Particular emphasis is given to the geography of innovation and foreign direct investments.
